The Inaugural 2015 WRXSA Go Kart Challenge!

In a WRXSA survey last year it was noted that a number of members wanted more social events and go karts, so here you have it…


LEADERBOARD

After two rounds its a close call between Matt, Hugh and Seth for outright honours. The 3rd round will be held at Richmond which will also be the site for the final – the epic 4th round Team Enduro with teams being chosen by random selection.


RACE DATES

Round 1 ‘Sprint’ – Wednesday May 27th.
Round 2 ‘Sprint’ – Wednesday July 22nd.
Round 3 ‘Sprint’ – Wednesday September 2nd.
Round 4 ‘Enduro Final’ – Wednesday November 4th.

‘SPRINT ROUNDS’

In a very raw format, which we can refine over the course of the year, we will be running three ‘Sprint’ solo driver races at all three go kart venues in Adelaide.

Results of the sprint rounds will be based on fastest times, and points will be accumulated through the sprint events culminating in an exciting Teams Based Enduro.

Final results of this round will be based on position, with double points on offer to really shake things up.

Sprint rounds are based on a 10 lap practice run, followed by three 10 lap races.

Minimum number of entrants required for this format is 8 and for certain sites if we have a number above 10 we may need to split into two groups (final cost TBC) and run a A-main/B-main final based on fastest times through race 1 and race 2.

Hence why the sprint rounds are based on a fastest time format.

The cost will vary between sites but should be $50-$52 providing everything goes to plan.

Points per round are as follows:
1st – 20 points
2nd – 19 points
3rd – 18 points
4th – 17 points
5th – 16 points
and so on for the number of entrants for each round.

After three sprint rounds it’s onto the final – The Teams Based Enduro!

‘TEAMS BASED ENDURO FINAL’

This will be held at Richmond Fast Karts as the driver pit change is better suited to an actual enduro where racing doesn’t stop and you don’t lose momentum.

Double points will be on offer to go with everyone’s series points tally and trophies will be awarded for the series winner and runner ups.

And to determine the teams, something a little different – The top 50% of the series standings will be pulling the names of the lower 50% out of the hat on the night – Crazy!

This will be a 60 lap per driver enduro with driver changes/pit windows around the 20 lap mark – After a quick 5 minute qualifying session to set the grid order for the main event.

The cost of which will only be $60 each for the night’s racing with a small extra charge TBC for dinner of pizza and soft drink to round out the night.

Points will be for each driver:
1st team – 40 points each
2nd team – 38 points each
3rd team – 36 points each
4th team – 34 points each
5th team – 32 points each
and so on for the number of entrants.
