For many in the Adelaide car scene, Megan Langhan, the force behind Yaruki Road is a familiar name. Many will know Megan from her time managing the workshop at Driven Motorsport. It was this frontline role that, not only fired her enthusiasm for this particular automotive sector, but provided a vast wealth of knowledge and insight into the types of parts and performance solutions sought by those who like her, see their car, not just as a means of getting from ‘A’ to ‘B’, but as a prized possession just begging to be modified, improved and enjoyed.
Megan not only places a high value on customer relationships but enjoys the many friendships gained during her time at Driven and it is this strong ‘customer service’ philosophy that is at the heart of Yaruki Road.
The ability to source parts and provide them to customers at competitive prices was critical to her role at Driven and cultivating good relationships with distributors has served to strengthen her ability to provide a first class, cost effective response for customers at Yaruki Road.
Megan is passionate about cars, particularly those of a Japanese origin and always has been since she played with Hot Wheels as a child. From there Megan advanced to Gran Turismo and even though it was just a game, the girl who couldn’t wait to pick up her driving licence, learnt much about different makes and models.
Once a drivers licence had been secured, it was Megan’s first real car a black, 1988 Jap-Spec Mitsubishi VR4 that changed her life. Megan fell in love with the turbo charged, all-wheel-drive platform but it was just the starting point.
Five years down the track, a brilliant red Evo 9, e85 tuned and lowered on SSR Professor SP1’s, would soon steal her heart. It was love at first sight and it was irresistible. Fortunately, the Evo was for sale and Megan concedes that she will never forget the first night she took the Evo home. Two years later there still isn’t a day when Megan doesn’t look forward to getting into her pride and joy.
According to Megan, establishing Yaruki Road in 2014 was a natural industry progression but it also provided her with the opportunity to get closer to the people who share her passion.
“I wanted to take the stress out of sourcing and securing quality parts for those who seek to enhance and better maintain their much loved cars.
During my time at Driven, I was exposed to a world of beautiful cars and passionate people who love to race their cars or modify them for enjoyment on the street. I discovered that they were just like me. Now being a part of this world brings me lots of satisfaction as I get to share the journey of each individual while they build their car and make it their own.”
So what about the name of Megan’s business?
“Yaruki is Japanese for; “the will to do” and I feel like it represents most of us, whether you have a dedicated track car or simply a daily drive that challenges and excites you to improve it whenever you have the spare coin.
For me it also represents my own desire to succeed, to be the best at what I do and that means providing my clients with the highest standards of service and hopefully, creating new and meaningful relationships with people who share the dream – who just like me want to modify or improve their cars in order to get the utmost enjoyment out of the them.”
Megan’s journey has introduced her to many amazing car enthusiasts and she is grateful for the way that the ‘Subie’ community has embraced her. In return, Megan has built valuable friendships with multiple WRXSA members over the years. She sponsors them individually and thoroughly enjoys being part of their motorsport careers.
On the weekends you will usually find her at a meet, on a hills run, or at a motorsport event. Just look for that brilliant red Evo 9 with the name Yaruki Road emblazoned on the side – you can’t miss it.
